Basic Grey, Glue Dots and Lindy’s Stamp Gang blog hop!

Welcome to the Lindy’s Stamp Gang, Basic Grey and Glue Dots blog hop! I’m so glad you’re here. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve created!

Basic Grey Glue Dots Lindy's Stamp Gang blog hop graphic by Jessica Griffin

Without further ado, my travel log!

lindys stamp gang basic grey glue dots blog hop travel vacation journal

In this video tutorial, I’ll show you how I’ve created the cover of my travel log using naked chipboard pieces, Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays and embossing powders, with Micro Glue Dots.

My family and I live in an RV, and we travel around the Pacific Northwest visiting amazing places, like the Redwoods in California (which you can see on my FaceBook page, It’s the RV Life for Me). I quickly realized the adventures we were taking were all happening so fast that I was forgetting places we had visited, and the memories we had made. So I created these journaling cards…

BG Detail

I’ve put together a little bag of materials to use in my book, to keep it uniform.  I’d say I take it with me everywhere, but since my whole house goes with me anytime we go somewhere, it’s kind of a given. 🙂 Either way, it’s all in one place, easy to grab, and I love having a limited number of materials in front of me, I feel far less challenged!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my post for today, and find my travel log inspiring! As I fill my travel log, I’ll continue to post photos.

.Love Never Fails.

I’m an app junkie! I download all these awesome apps when I hear about them, and then totally forget I’ve downloaded it! Oops! Anyways, my kids have this app called Drawing and my girls were having fun drawing together on separate iPads and then surprising one another with what they’ve drawn.

There’s this app. It’s called Paper 53

Paper 53 app tutorial how to jessica griffin digital brushes

It’s a great app, super simple, not a whole lot of options, but it has a calligraphy pen, which I love. And, the app works. It’s smooth, and it delivers amazing results. Every time.

Today my good friend Nancie posted about Paper 53 and how she makes brushes using the app! I was like “What! No way!” Of course I had to try it! In her tutorial she shows you how to do it in Illustrator, but don’t worry, if you don’t have Illustrator, it’s super simple!

(click above to download)

  • First, import your image into Photoshop.
  • Second, use the magic eraser tool to remove the background.
  • Third, go to “edit” and select “define brush preset.”
  • Fourth, name your brush, and look for it in your brushes palette.
  • Fifth, and optional, save your file as a .png and share it with your readers as a free download!

It is seriously that simple! I should apologize in advance. I’m going to be making brushes like a crazy person! But, they’ll all be available here, for free! If you create something with it, PLEASE give credit where credit is due- as I have, crediting Nancie for the amazing tutorial! And, share with me what you create! I’d love to see it!

Because no post is complete with out some fun photos! Here are a few of my dog, and our new hamsters, Belle and Ariel. (Notice I said my dog, but our hamsters?) Hmmm…

AquaMarker video tutorial

Today I have a technique that is new to me, but maybe not so much everyone else. AquaMarkers are a very new product to me. In fact, working with water anything is new to me! I knew I wanted something I could do that is quick and easy, but could achieve a beautiful finish. Coloring on a stamp block is new to me, and the end result is just beautiful! With the new AquaMarkers, the colors are endless! That’s what I love about AquaMarkers, you can mix yellow and blue to make green!

To add the beautiful shimmer, I used Lindy’s Stamp Gang’s Creme Brulee Cream.

Letraset has generously donated a set of the new AquaMarkers for me to giveaway to one of my blog readers. If you’re interested in winning a set of twenty BRAND NEW AquaMarkers, simply comment below, and head over to Letraset’s blog and comment there as well! Easy peasy!

So happy together!

Hi friends! A few weeks ago I came across this adorable sketch from Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. I took that layout and created a digital version. I’ve made it available as a free PSD download on my FaceBook page. Making it super easy for you to create your own layout!

And this is what I did with it…

The journaling reads: june 2012 our first trip to the woodland park zoo in seattle wa! in this photo you’re sitting on a giant iguana with a long tongue that parker thought was a slide! we had so much fun!” The font is Promised Freedom, available free at DaFont. The title is: No rain today! I used the font Digs My Hart available free from Kevin and Amanda.

I used digital elements from Echo Park available at JessicaSprague.com in addition to some things I’ve learned in Jessica’s classes, like, how to create a star! (So simple!)

(Click on the image to be taken to the product.)

The cloud and rain are from Aja Abney and Christine Honsinger. Together they’ve formed a new brand called Ya Yeah! The kit with the cloud isn’t yet available, but, hopefully they’ll rerelease it.

The stitching is from Nancie’s Art Journaling class it’s called: Stitch 16.

Spellbloggin’ time!

I’m pretty excited! If you follow me on FaceBook, you already know I’ve been chosen as Spellbinders guest blogger, after they reached a FaceBook milestone of 12,000 “likes.” I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kelly on this project, and when she said they were going to be doing a “spring cleaning” theme… well, I couldn’t resist!

In the post, you’ll find pictures of my creative space. In addition to an in depth look at how I organize my Spellbinder dies. And, a few of my favorite cards! You’ll have to stop by the Spellbinder blog and check it out!

If you’re new to my site, welcome! I can be found on YouTube, FaceBook, and Twitter. With FaceBook being the most up to date. If you like what you see, I’d love it if you followed my blog! You can do so by clicking “sign me up!”

In my attempts at Spring Cleaning I’ve unearthed a (brand new) set of Lacey Circles, a set I loved so much I actually bought twice! Although I could exchange this set out for another, I decided to give them away instead. Besides, that’s more fun, right!

(Please note, this giveaway is NOT sponsored by Spellbinders. This is, as previously mentioned, a set I had purchased for myself, that I’m kindly giving away.)

All you need to do is leave me a comment telling me how you store your Spellbinder Dies. That’s it! The giveaway is open internationally and will close April 15th 2012. I’ll pick a winner and announce him or her on the 20th! Make sure you stop by the Spellbinder blog to see my guest post!

I was really hoping to create something new for the feature, but time slipped away and we are actually moving from Texas to Washington State… we leave Thursday (like, tomorrow)!

Anyways, I picked four cards to feature with my spring cleaning post. Although they aren’t new, they do offer something I hope will inspire you. In addition to a few video tutorials.

I created this card for my sister’s 21st birthday (which is also tomorrow- the 5th). The details of the card can be seen by clicking the card image itself. There is a video that shows you how I’ve added some finishing details that really complete the image.

I felt inspired by a sketch and created this card. The details of the card can be seen by clicking the card image itself.

I created this card for my brother’s 13th birthday. The details of the card can be seen by clicking the card image itself. With this card, you’ll find a video tutorial demonstrating how to make a shaped card.

And last, but not least…

I created this card for my gramma’s 80th birthday. The details of the card can be seen by clicking the card image itself. With this card, you’ll find two other cards, one that features layering, and another that features simplicity. All with a complete supply list.

Well, back to work! This house wont pack itself! Thanks for stopping by!

Next Day Flyers Giveaway!

I’m so excited! As most of you know, I design for Jessica Sprague. She introduced a class a few weeks back called “Digital Art Journaling.” With our recent move, I’ve had to pack away a majority of my supplies, leaving me with the absolute bare minimum. I was reluctant to pack it all up, but, I knew it would allow me to concentrate on the class!

So my friend Leslie over at Next Day Flyers, offered one of my subscribers a set of flyers! Next Day Flyers offers flyer printing, business cards, and all sorts of other cool stuff. My wonderful, 200+ amazing subscribers now have an opportunity to win YOUR very own set of 100 1/4 page flyers! All YOU have to do is leave me a comment (or add your name to the inlinkz) and show me what incredible and amazing kinds of stuff you’d love to have in print! Oh… and “like” or “follow” NDF via Twitter or FaceBook and tell them that I sent you of course!

These are not my work, but I found them on Pinterest and thought you would enjoy them!

These images are available for 8X10 download at eighteen25.

Jessica Sprague teamed up with Nancie Rowe Janitz and vice versa, to put on this bad ass class! I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned. So sad I’ve been digitally designing for so long, and I FINALLY feel like I’ve got the hang of it!

(Nancie has been kind enough to allow me to share these images with you, so you can download them to your computer, and use them. Please give credit where credit is due, I’d love to continue making things that I can share with my followers. Please consider following me on twitter, or sign up for an email subscription so you don’t miss a download or giveaway!)

So here’s what I made!

So the reason you’re here today… Julie Ranae.

Julie Ranae has had some pretty major dental surgeries in her lifetime due to medication she took as a child.  It was in her plans to have all of her teeth  replaced at some point over the next 5 years, a decision that was pretty easy to plan out.  But last month she chipped her two front teeth. The dentist told her there was no way to save them and his recommendation was to have them remove all of her teeth, and soon. But for that day, they needed to remove her front teeth so her gums could begin to heal.  Julie needs at least $4000 to get started and another $3000 to finish the process…a total of $7000.

That’s when the owner of Sweet Stamp Shop put together this benefit. It is the goal of all these generous friends and sponsors to help make this situation more do-able for Julie so that she can share a brand new smile with all of us soon!

If there is anything you can do to help with a financial donation, you will be eligible for prizes from our sponsor pool of over $2500. Any amount is greatly appreciated.

If you’d like to donate something to help Julie, just click on the “donate” button below.

If you’ve left me a comment, you can hop on over to Eva Dobilas now! 🙂

Just because I’m so happy the Tigers won
…and will be playing the Rangers
I’m going to give away two more Copic classes!
One to one of my email subscribers,
the other to a FaceBook “fan”.
I’ll announce the winners October 15th.
Remember, you don’t have to be local, to win!
(This giveaway is COMPLETELY separate from Operation Julie’s Smile)
