Helmar has a “Red, White and Glue” challenge on their blog…

They posted a sketch, which I love and will use again.

Of course you are encouraged to use Helmar adhesives. Which is no problem since I LOVE their 450. And what better to scrap than 4th of July photos?!

Pattern paper: We R Memory Keepers Yankee Doodle
Pearls: Prima

Flowers: I am roses.

I colored the flowers with my copics, and then I sprayed them with Rhododendron Rose Red from Lindy’s Stamp Gang.

I had the blue star in my stash.

.butterfly.

Good morning Tuesday!!

Yesterday I posted a layout I did using papers designed by Crystal Wilkerson. I made this butterfly hanging first, and used the scraps to make that layout!

I printed one page of each pattern. I print on Premium Presentation Paper Matte by Epson. If you sign up for Epson’s emails, you will get discounts on paper, and can often purchase packs of 100 for less than $5.00 and they do not limit the number of packages you can purchase at a time. Not to mention FREE SHIPPING!!

Anyways, I used all of AccuCut’s butterfly dies. #10, #9, and #8.

September 2009 Paper Collection: #8 and #44.
Tiny Spots Paper Pack: #10.

August 2009 Patterned Paper Pack: #2, #1, and #3.

.National Craft Month.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! I hope you’re wearing green!! 😉

Did you know this month is “National Craft Month?”

Every Wednesday in the month of May someone fabulous is sharing their, tips, tricks and secrets with you at ScrapTiffany.

This Wednesday, which happens to be St. Patrick’s Day… I’m sharing my tips, tricks and secrets with you about doing some hybrid scrapbooking!

I made a St. Patrick’s Day banner…

I used a large four leaf clover die from AccuCut to cut five pieces of Museum Board.

Then I downloaded Dianne Rigdon’s “Lucky Day” digital kit from ScrapArtist. While there, I downloaded Nancie Rowe Janitz’s “Ole Ireland Mini Kit.”

Before I printed anything, I checked three things…

1.) The quality! I always make sure my “media type” and “mode” are set correctly. It makes a HUGE difference! Always set the project to print at the best possible quality, so you’ll have the best results once printed.

2.) I always select a borderless print.

3.) I always, always… did I mention always? FILL PAGE! So the pattern coverers the ENTIRE page, and not just part of it, as pictured above.

First, I opened the Ole Ireland mini kit and selected three pattern papers I wanted to print. I printed 1 Shamrock page, 2 Stout pages, and 1 Stripes page.

Second, To cut a shamrock shape I used the accucut die, and cut the museum board, but you could use a cereal box, chipboard, acrylic, etc. You can also draw your own shape if you do not have a die cutting machine.

Third, I adhered the Stout paper to the shamrock shape using Perfect Paper Adhesive. (Trim the paper to match the shamrock shape.) Then I used VersaMagic Tea Leaves to ink the edges of the shamrock.

Fourth, cut Stripe paper into 1.5″ strips. Distress one side using Tonic Paper Distresser, if desired.

Fifth, fold one stripe piece at a time, distressed side out, into a circle. When the circle is complete, staple, glue, or tape to hold the shape.

Sixth, attach the circle to the shamrock. Since we’ll be putting a punched circle over the center, I stapled my circles to the shamrock. Be sure to staple in an area that will be covered should you wish to staple the two.

Seven, I picked the letters I wanted to use to spell out the word “LUCKY” and placed them on top of the Shamrock pattern paper. Using my green Maya Mist, I sprayed the letters on top of the paper. This gave me two options.

1.) to use the letters I had sprayed…

2.) to use the Shamrock paper after spraying the letter on it…

(I choose option one!)

Eight, I used a scalloped circle punch to punch out a ‘matte’ for each letter. I used the same VersaMagic Tea Leaves ink to ink the edges of the scalloped circle.

Nine, attach the letter to the scalloped circle. Even if the letters are already sticky, I recommend using glossy accents to make sure those letters aren’t going to fall off. (Better safe than sorry!)

Ten, attach the scalloped circle shamrock, centered on top of the circle. I used a 3-D pop dot to make it “pop” a little.

This is what my layers look like…

Eleven, attach each shamrock to a long string of ribbon. (I used staples again to attach the two.)

Twelve, print Dianne Rigdon’s Rainbow from her “Lucky Day” kit. I printed six rainbows, but was only able to attach four. (Again using staples! Can you blame me? They are so quick and easy!)

Twelve, hang and enjoy!

Thank you AccuCut for sponsoring this project!

ScrapTiffany: Lucky

Thank you AccuCut for sponsoring this weeks challenge at ScrapTiffany.

Very simple project- and fairly quick too!

Supplies: Die (large), Brilliance: Pearlescent Thyme, Maya Road: Green mist, Noah Rub-On Letters, American Crafts: White Thickers in Glitter Sprinkles, Glossy Accents, Marco Paper: Museum Board, US Art Quest: PPA Matte, and a Creative Memories Green pen.

*You can click on the photos to make them bigger.*

I sprayed the museum board with Green Maya Mist.
I used a dauber to lightly apply Brilliance ink.
Applied the letters “LUCKY”.
I covered the clover (and thickers) with Glossy Accents.
I applied the rub on letters (on top of the glossy accents) to say: “so to have”
**If I was thinking, even semi clearly, I would have applied the rub ons BEFORE the glossy accents!! Learn from my mistakes friends!!**

I lightly colored each page with Brilliance, Pearlescent Thyme. (My absolute favorite by the way!) I used my Green Creative Memories pen to write why I was lucky to have each member of my immediate family… and then I used the clover die to cut the photos. Of course that made my life super easy! I used PPA to attach the photos to the Museum Board.

I’ll be back Wednesday, with some fun stuff to share… be here!! 🙂

ScrapTiffany: Wings

A day late… and a few bucks short, but better late than never, right? Enjoy!

I used this AccuCut die to cut the chipboard album. Maya Road Wings and Hearts. Maya Road Noah Mini Alphabet Chipboard Set. Maya Road Cupcakes Chipboard Set word: fun.

I used Crystal Wilkerson’s Hawaiian Luau Paper Pack on each page of the book.

Creative Cafe chipboard stickers. Making Memories Puffy Alpha in Red and Black. Vinyl Thickers, Sprinkles Blue.

Maya Road, black and white sheer calendar album.

“Sick and Tired” lyrics typed out onto Crystal Wilkerson’s Neutral Paper (lined paper).

Bound with the all mighty bind it all.

dec.31.09

This is my last official post of 2009!

It’s been a long month! We spent 42+ hours in the car over the course of ten days. But it was worth every second! This was our first Christmas in Michigan since we got married four years ago!

Those 42 hours didn’t go to waste! I did scrap in the car! With our last minute decision to go to Michigan, I didn’t have enough time to finish what I’d started (big surprise!) so, I did it in the car!

We didn’t get the white Christmas I was hoping for, but there was enough snow to go sledding and we even came home to snow!

Anyways, I precut several boxes before leaving so I could fold/decorate in the car. I used Making Memories, Mistletoe collection.

I also made a money holder, using last years October Afternoon Christmas paper.

With out further ado!

At the start of the new year I’ll begin designing for Scrap Tiffany and US Art Quest.

Saturday January 9th (10a-5p) and Sunday January 10th (11a-4p) US Art Quest will be in Grapevine at the Heirloom’s Grapevine Rubber Stamp & Paper Arts Festival. Come check us out and watch Sue demo all her awesome products! Who better to learn from than the master herself!

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Years. We’re staying in tonight as we usually do- having Chinese for dinner! It’s one of Alex’s family traditions. Its kind of fun to think that his sister in Canada and dad in Michigan will be eating Chinese… and so will we! Sounds silly, but it kind of makes me feel like we’re all a little closer, if only for a few hours!

.door hanger.

I have a door hanger die that I’ve been itching to use! Saturday I won a kit including adorable paper from American Crafts and it was exactly what I needed to jumpstart this door hanger!

I signed my daughter up for dance classes at a local dance studio and her classes are on Thursdays, so I thought it would be fun to make her a little door hanger to remind her of her weekly class.

The die is from AccuCut Crafts and is a fairly good size at 6X11. The tag is from October Afternoon, and the letters are from Making Memories. (They’re my favorite letters at the moment!) I heat embossed the flower, with clear embossing powder and attached it, while still hot, to the hanger. The little pink flower at the bottom is Lindy’s Stamp Gang, Sunset Pink.
